I found it very interesting how you broke this down into the three components - I really love that and will think about this going forward.

But to me, self-control is really the key - the bridge that connects the two.

Courage is important to begin, and wisdom is of course crucial, but without self-control - without taking that moment to connect the dots - courage is perhaps not as useful as it seems on the surface.

- Self-control is being able to disconnect from your impulses

- Self-control is finding the words to express what you actually think

- Self-control is being able to do things you know you have to, even if you don't want to

Thanks for such a thoughtful piece of writing. I will think of creating order amongst chaos in a different way - and you have earned a new subscriber.

I think you're right about one scheduled practice to center oneself. I've managed to do a short 10 min. meditation daily for a while now, and I feel it prepares me for my day. Then onward w/ all the other stuff.

Thank you for the reminder to be wise. To think wise. To act wise. We need that in every moment in life.

Great read Tinashe.

While reading I was reflecting back to the time in my life when I was raising my son independently. Parenting is definitely an excessively fast paced-activity.

Did I use all three:courage, self control and wisdom 100% of the time? Heck no. But consistency is our friend in so many aspects of life. Fortunate enough to have a very wonderful young man for a son. I suspect the way I managed parenting him added to that. Or it was just a super lucky Gene pool. šŸ˜‰

This is great Tinashe! I find in times of overwhelm that we're all a lot more capable than we realise ā€“ often that requires us to draw on something from within, as you write beautifully here.

That is a FANTASTIC Churchill quote. I've been writing about courage a lot lately with my Dad and this quote fits perfectly into what I've been exploring. Thanks Tinashe for a great article!

"Yet courage is just as vital outside the office. It's what allows me to initiate those awkward but crucial conversations about challenges in my relationships. It is the boldness to be an authentic parent, setting boundaries and examples my children desperately need."

LOVE THIS.

A rich read, my friend. I like the explanation on how these three concepts enhance one another, and how they apply in all realms of life - parenting, business and political leadership.

Also like this type of writing that is succinct and clear, saying a lot with the fewest number of words. Again, thanks.
